I "heart" my serger!
If you don't have one and love to sew, get yourself one-they rock!
They really kick up the quality and ease of sewing stuff.
This book by Becky Hanson:
will really bring it home for you!
Easy SINGER Style™ Quick and Easy Sewing with Your Serger is an easy, get-started guide to working with your serger--to get quick, professional-looking results with all types of fabrics.
Easy SINGER Style™ Quick and Easy Sewing with Your Serger teaches readers all about the serger and presents 15 projects that help them develop the skills and techniques they need for both decorative and functional serging. The projects include fashion makeovers, fashion accessories, home accents, and specialty gift items. The projects make the most of the serger’s special functions and capabilities.
As with the other books in the series, the early chapters present all the information the reader needs to get started--a discussion of all the features and components of a serger, the many styles available, and how to thread and stitch perfectly. Several projects showcase the varied techniques, including a vintage sweater makeover, ready-to-wear jacket trim, and window curtains. Readers gradually build skills as they apply what they learn.
This book features the step-by-step approach of the other books in the series, in keeping with SINGER’s reputation for reliable, practical instruction.
This is one of my favorite projects in the book. I think these rolled rosettes would look great on just about everything!

Talk about the perfect way to style up an old handbag. I really wish I was talented enough to sew those rolled rosettes. Maybe I'll get my friend to do it that is much better with a sewing machine than I am. I probably won't do this with the best designer handbags I have, but this would be just what my older ones need. Thanks for showing us how to do it!
