« Cool Book Slider Idea from 1000 Type Treatments and Crafty Blogger Links | Main | Who Doesn't Love A New Book? »

September 30, 2008

First up will be the Christmas cards - haven't finalized the design yet but I have a good idea what I want to do. And I've been inspired by some of the holiday magazines I've picked up recently to try my hand at some of the shadow box/photo displays, with a holiday theme. I thought they would make nice gifts for the grandparents!

I have a small Brother sewing machine. I need to unearth it and practice some stitches. But my currant craft "love" is polymer clay. But Hey! when you think about it, it's all mixed media!!!

I would like to make some fabric tree ornaments with a touch of crazy quilting.

I'm making ornaments for gifts for coworkers and art doll puppets for my artist gal pals.

Each year I make a different type of Santa Claus; some sewn, some embroidered, some painted. I give them as gifts as well as keeping one for my tree. It's a lot of fun each year as I decorate the tree and see how my crafting has changed (sometimes better and sometimes worse) throughout the years.

Kathy & Jayla

My 5 year old granddaughter and I have crafted together since she was 2. This year for Christmas she wants to make a special blanket for her new baby sister. We plan on taking a baby blanket and use my Brother sewing machine to embroider the Disney Princesses on it. I set it up and do the threading. She pushes the button to start each step. She will also help me make Christmas cards.

This year I'm probably going to make origami items... not sure yet, but it sounds fun. Maybe mathematical structures.

I have made some magnets from laminate chips and scraps specifically for my craft friends:

If you check out my blog, you'll see I've also made some quiltlets for birthday gifts. They went over so well, I decided to make a few for Christmas.

I always make traditional tip-ins for all my altered art friends, (you can see what I made last year in my blog archives) and this year I'm making some Holiday ATCs, but they are not quite finished.

I am making each of my three grandchildren rag quilts. I have had everyone in town give me their old jeans. Some I may write with fabric marker what relative it is from. I am making blocks from some back pockets and will crochet little animals to put in them. The two boys will hate that, but hey, I'm the GeeGaw and they will just have to deal.

Hi, I am making lots of things for folks this year, felted wool sewing wallets, aprons, a tree skirt for my daughter who just moved to her first place, potholders, a few small wallhangings for different seasons, also for my daughter, a new quilt for 1 son, for myself I started a new Baltimore Album type quilt which I am making entirely by hand, (a first for me!)a vest for my grandson's kindergarten teacher,I would like to try some fleece pants for the other son, I could go on and on, but I won't LOL Have to get to work!
BTW, love this blog :-)
