1,000 Artist Journal Pages:
Personal Pages and Inspirations
By
Dawn DeVries Sokol
Over 1,000 journal pages are presented in this one beautiful full-color book.
Journals
offer their makers a safe place to dream, doodle, rant, and reinvent
themselves. They offer viewers rich, visual inspiration. There is a
fascination with these revealing and often beautiful pages of
self-exploration and personal expression. Journals offer a tantalizing,
voyeuristic view of an interior life.
This is the first book to
offer examples of over 1,000 journal pages in one eye-catching, visual
format, and would attract a wide swathe of artists who fully embrace or
experiment with this medium.
Journaling has seeped into popular
culture in a big way and this collection provides a wide array of
ideas, techniques and themes to inspire and inform mixed media and
journaling enthusiasts.
Dawn DeVries Sokol
worked her way from designing newspapers to art directing magazines.
From her studio she now designs books for publishers across the U.S.
while playing in her art journals, crocheting and soldering.

Question of the day:
Are you making anything for St. Patrick's Day?Leave your answer in the comments and you are entered to win a free book!
And you can also request a book listed here and a page number and I'll post it like I did today. It was really fun and I too learned about something cool!
I just finished working on a little 5" St. Patricks themed doll for a swap I'm in. I don't normally 'decorate' for St. Pat's, but I do try to wear green (even tho' I'm not Irish).

I have a commission to make first but if I have time I want to knit myself a green wire and bead bracelet.

I am, at times, a book maker and I do love to do so when I have time. As a full time student, I don't have much time right now but you have inspired me! Whenever I see a piece of paper I like, I snag it w/a book cover or pages in mind. The other day I found a huge piece of green paper. So, as Spring break is coming up, I am going to make myself a new journal w/St. Patrick's day in mind.
