I just did a project with a flame theme and look what I just got: the hot (pun intended hehe) new book
How to Draw with Drew Brophy and there is this great tutorial on how to draw flames!
Click on the image to enlarge the how to draw flames page from this cool book and if you need more of these excellent drawing tutorials grab yourself a copy of:
A self-taught artist, Drew
Brophy began painting his lively
images on surfboards at a young age when he started surfing in his
native South Carolina. Over the years, Drew’s unique style of painting
has gained significant recognition, and his signature art has become a
world-renowned brand. Drew’s original artwork is in high demand, and
private commissions keep him busy. His surfboards are sold in art
galleries and establishments like the Hard Rock Casino, Las Vegas, as
well as to collectors around the world. Drew’s vision is to inspire
generations of people to live the life of their dreams. In Drew’s
words, “Life is Good.”

I'm going to show this to my 9-year-old son. He was trying to draw a truck with flames on it last night! I'm sure this will help.
