Who or what do remember most during the holidays?
by
Ben Logan won the hearts of readers the world over with his 1975 memoir, The Land Remembers. He returns to the farmland of his youth in Christmas Remembered, a loving tribute to holiday rituals and the people who make them happen: people like his mother, who was married on Christmas Day, and people like his wife, who brought her own traditions from the mountains of Mexico. “Rituals do not persist simply because they may possess a magical power from outside us,” Logan tells us. “They live because they touch something inside us that is wanting and waiting to come out and express itself.”
With a new foreword by Christopher Lehmann-Haupt, Christmas Remembered will make you laugh and cry—and grow nostalgic for your own holiday seasons past.

My husband's grandmother passed away in April. Since this is the first Christmas without her I'm sure she'll be on all of our minds a lot.

After presents, the preparation of dinner begins. What I remember most is the sensation of the full house of people. Everyone trying to do something and always getting in each others way. Then the closeness of the family and we sit down to enjoy our Christmas dinner.

I remember all our family getting together and all the kids would put on stage performances of Christmas and family themed acts. Most were usually bad but incredibly funny. There was never a dull moment at Christmas time when I was little :P

Congratulations to the winners!
I remember 13ft. Christmas trees with bubble lights, dripping with tinsel, especially the year that there was a bicycle under it. And I remember the holiday open houses we would host, or sometimes attend, late evenings and into the night on the 25th.

I think a lot about my grandmother during the Christmas holidays. She brought love to the table not only in the food she served but by the way she made every family member feel special. Her smile and approval were always there for all 19 of us grandkids, she brought family together and made us remember how important the family unit is. I would love to win this book. Thanks for the opportunity.

We've been remembering the brave men and women in the military that can not be with their families this holiday season because they are ensuring that I can be with mine. I thank them all from the bottom of my heart for their sacrifices.
