I had the pleasure of attending Dr. Diane Lewis-Goldstein's Costume History class at Cal State Northridge last week and hosting a contest. Her students had several assignments which included writing reports about their experience at local museums, taking inspiration from something and sketching their own designs, and giving a short oral report on a topic in class.
I picked a winner from each of those categories. Let me say it was tough! These young people were really talented and creative. In this photo are the three winners:
On my right, Dana A. wrote a wonderful report where she included lots of fun facts along with her personal impressions which were most insightful, and she picked 1,000 Poses in Fashion by Chidy Wayne as her prize.
Immediately on my left, Eun Ju K. drew some of the most beautiful fashion sketches of clothes I so wanted to wear! She picked as her prize the book One-Piece Wearables: 25 Chic Garments and Accessories to Sew from Single Pattern Pieces by Sheila Brennan.
And on my far left, Amparo T. gave an oral report on the umbrella myth! Who knew there was so much meaning behind the umbrella! She picked as her prize:
