If you didn’t already know, this Saturday is World Wide Knit in Public Day. Whilst die-hard knitters will happily get their needles out in public any day of the week, not everyone can feel confident enough to whip their balls of yarn out and WIPs (Works in Progress) out in the street. If you’re feeling a little shy then World Wide Knit in Public Day (WWKIPD) is perfect for you, plus you might even pick up a few new techniques.
Set up by Danielle Landes in 2005, the day aims to celebrate knitting world over, encouraging knitters to meet up, and get those needles clicking together, across the globe. Check out the WWKIPD website to see if you can find an event near you or check your local yarn shop or craft groups to see if they have anything planned.
To celebrate WWKIPD, Craftside is giving away copies of the excellent book Astounding Knits by Lela Nargi. Packed full of 101 amazing, fantastical, spectacular, wacky and wonderful knitted projects from around the world, this book will delight knitters everywhere.
Check out some of these astounding knits from the book:

I have always wanted to knit a frog dissection and now my girls are doing biology at school, I think it is high time I did!
I would love the astounding knit book. It's the items in it that really make me want to knit odd things.
