I haven't made an ATC in a long time and I was craving some "art" of "art-sake"! I didn't really have a direction or idea so I went to the go-to book for when the idea needs some help: Unstuck: 52 Ways to Get (and Keep) Your Creativity Flowing at Home, at Work & in Your Studio.
It really wasn't any particular page or inspiration technique in Unstuck - it was simply flipping through the pages and seeing a bit of this and that. I got a bunch of eyeshadow pallets for Christmas and they tickle me as much as when I was a kid and I got a new box of crayons. They are so pretty and the possibilities are endless. I had been flipping through magazines looking to get inspiration for eyeshadow combos which drew me to all these eyes.
How I made my dozen ATCs:
I used the Sizzix ATC die to cut out a dozen ATCs.
Then I went back through the magazine cutting out words and phrases.
Then as the rule of 3's dictates another element was necessary and I spotted my Martha Stewart bunny ear punch and they looked fun on these eyes. It doesn't really have any deep meaning - it just pleased me. Isn't that what art does?
I laid them out on a 12x12 scrapbook page and I kind of liked how they looked there as a set.
I hope I get time to make more as I really liked getting my creativity going and playing with paper and cutting it up, and then putting it back together just a bit differently. :)

52 Ways to Get (and Keep) Your Creativity Flowing at Home, at Work & in Your Studio

Can’t get the creative juices flowing? Unstuck features 52 simple, creativity-generating projects that can fit into any lifestyle. Arranged in order of time commitment—from 30 seconds to several hours—the 52 projects can be done randomly or one per week for an entire year of creativity building. Also included are 12 artist profiles that illuminate what other successful creative people do to stay inspired and productive, along with blank journaling pages to sketch, scribble, and jot down your experiences and ideas. Roll the dice (made from the “custom inspiration dice” template in the book) and see where your creative energy takes you!
In 2007, artist Noah Scalin came up with an ingenious idea: he cut a skull out of orange paper and posted it on his blog with the note, “I’m making a skull image every day for a year.” His year-long art project became an award-winning Internet sensation that resulted in the book Skulls, as well as landing him in the New York Times and on the Martha Stewart Show.
What a neat idea for ATCs. I've been intimidated to get involved in a swap because are complex or involve professional level painting or drawing skills.
Makes me think there should be levels of exchanges - like in boxing. lol
