Today I have my latest creation to share with you. It uses a bit from the last few days' posts and some inspiration from Mixed-Media Girls with Suzi Blu: Drawing, Painting, and Fanciful Adornments from Start to Finish.
On Tuesday I posted about the impasto technique from the book Acrylic Painting: A complete painting kit for beginners. Well Suzi Blu uses it to give her cute little girls hair dimension in her book Mixed-Media Girls.
And the quote from Wednesday's post "Spell to attract", well it seemed only fitting to use it to make a card. So I stamped it along with one of Suzi's stamps.
I gave the cute little girl some dimensional wings by punching out a set of wings from a recycled scrapbook paper catalog. I folded a bit of them back and just glued down the folded back part.
I colored in the little girl and the "typewriter" type letters a bit. For a final touch I stamped a plaid heart using a Martha Stewart stamp in red.
Just a few minutes of creativity. Forget back to school, I say back to crafting!

Growing out of her popular online workshops and videos, Mixed-Media Girls with Suzi Blu takes you step by step through the process of drawing a folk art and stylized girl’s face. You will learn to create simple, balanced features and add shading with colored pencils and paint. From there, you will learn how to draw the rest of the figure and put it into a unique, textured, mixed-media background.
—Learn to design costumes and personalities for your girls and adapt them to fit your own artistic style.
—Create vivid, exciting backgrounds by layering paint, collaging with fabric, carving beeswax, distressing wood, and building up texture with mediums and pastes.
—And on the accompanying DVD-ROM, which you can play on your Mac or PC, there is a mini-workshop full of whimsical mayhem, motivation, and real-time video with Suzi Blu showing you detailed drawing and shading techniques for faces, beeswax finishes, and how to make a mixed-media art journal from start to finish.
