Altered Art Circus!
Techniques for Journals, Paper Dolls, Art Cards, and Assemblages
Altered Art Circus! takes the reader on a magical journey into an artistic world where they can discover their creative muse, waiting to come out and play. It is, at heart, a technique book for altered artists, but the ideas are housed within a wonderful, spectacular fantasy land. Altered Art Circus! brings the reader, the daydreamer, the explorer, the artist, to a place they have never been, where they can unleash their artistic dreams and explore hidden worlds through cutting-edge techniques, creative projects, and beautiful images.
Altered Art Circus! includes easy tutorials on basic digital altering effects for new and vintage images, step-by-step instruction for projects, a gallery of inspirational work from other artists, and clip art and images for readers to use in their own projects. The book will cover digital and paper alteration, creating from found and household objects (jars and boxes), will feature playful illustration, vintage imagery, and use myriad other mixed-media materials, ranging from glitter and wire to crinoline and coloring agents.
Lisa Kettell is a mixed-media artist and writer with years of education and experience in altered art, graphic and print design, business, and marketing. She designs and publishes a successful art and fantasy zine called The Faerie Zine, which is dedicated to fairyology, the arts, creative inspiration, and travel.
I decided to share this project with you today because I thought it would look fabulous hanging on a Christmas tree and you just might be looking for a little extra last minute project to whip up to fill a spot on your tree or to make for a last minute gift to bring someone to dress up their tree!

15. What is the very best/worst holiday gift you have ever received (handmade or otherwise!)?
My
Answer:
OK, well my best present is actually every year that I have great family and friends in my life is the best present of all. It really doesn't get any better than that. No single thing compares. I leave myself open to new things and try not to get hung up on "what's supposed to be" this way new and wonderful things have the opportunity to come into my life.
And on the "worst" category I would have to say as a child I DID NOT embrace the "handmade" and got several crocheted berets with really big pom poms that I had to wear. OK timing is everything, if I had them now I probably still wouldn't wear them but I would certainly appreciate them. And, being me, would probably re-purpose and up-cycle them into something I would use!
Be sure to read the comments of others, maybe you can have a good laugh or get a great idea!
