Happy Thursday all ya'll! I have a fun project inspired by the book Creative Illustration Workshop for Mixed-Media Artists and a yummy recipe from Going Raw to share with you today. Why both? I'll tell you. Back at the Craftside booth at Maker Faire we had both yummy cook books and crafting books there and let's just say both flew off the shelves! So I had the sneaking suspicion you readers here might like more of the recipes.
Is this true???? Do you? What kind? Please tell and leave a comment on this post!!!!
As my thanks for sharing, one lucky commenter will get a cookbook and a crafting book of their choice from the fabulous Qbookshop.com! It can be Creative Illustration Workshop for Mixed-Media Artists and Going Raw featured here today or any other books in stock!
Leave your thoughts on cooking and crafting in today's post by midnight ET Thursday, June 16th, 2011 and you are in the running.
For the mixed-media art/craft project, I took my inspiration from the book Creative Illustration Workshop.
The quote is "There is no gravity. The world sucks." It is from a Vietnam soldier's lighter featured in this post over at the Etsy blog. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a pessimist, but I love the quote, its origin, and the word play.
This section of Creative Illustration Workshop talks about letting the idea blossom. That's what I did. I painted the mirror frame quite some time back thinking that would be my color family for this piece and I would add all sorts of green bits from my "ephemera box." Well, when I saw this quote, I just knew this was the quote that was going on the frame.
At first I thought about rubber stamping the letters, but then the idea of doing it "ransom letter" style appealed to me more because I would get more range of fonts.
Not only that, I could include a Lisa Engelbrecht original letter she did for me at an event. It is now part of something I will hang on my wall and enjoy seeing every day.
This piece also includes another designer's work which I will share with you in another post!
Next up is a delicious recipe for orange-chocolate mousse parfaits from the new book Going Raw: Everything You Need to Start Your Own Raw Food Diet and Lifestyle Revolution at Home.
