Dog Care Safety Tip: Use Round-Tip Scissors for Safe Dog Grooming

Whether you have a mellow dog or a new frisky puppy, keeping you both safe when trimming their fur is always a top priority. To keep from knicking or cutting anyone while grooming, try this tip for choosing round tip scissors from the book DIY Dog Grooming, From Puppy Cuts to Best in Show: Everything You Need to Know, Step by Step.

For inexperienced groomers or when grooming very nervous dogs, round-tip scissors are a smart choice because they offer extra safety in case the dog moves abruptly during grooming. Round-tip scissors are great for trimming the hair around the dog’s face and around the pads.

Cool Crafty News for the Hot Summer Days

First up, co-author Shelby Allaho shared a variation of a project from her book, Crocheting Clothes Kids Love: 28 Fun-to-Wear Projects, where she used a scarf patttern to make a knit kerchief for her daughter.

So cute!

Finally, I have a quick tip for all you quilters out there from The Quilter's Palette by Katy Denny.

Pastels hang so well together as a group of colors that you could bring in many different pastel solids to this palette for a really successful quilt design. If you don't want to use white for tonal contrast, what about a midtone of one of your pastel colors, such as Mediterranean blue, or even a cool red?

Art Prompt: Doodle Your Dog and More Crafty Goodness to Kick Off July with a Bang!

Happy Monday! I hope you had a fabulous 4th of July weekend. I thought I'd share some cute art by Helen Hodges featured in one of the all-time cutest books 1000 Dog Portraits: From the People Who Love Them. Why not grab your favorite drawing implement and doodle your dog? Or even Google your favorite animal image and do some sketching to begin this week with some art.
